Ping

Hi ,

I have one system installed on Linux Red Hat 3.0. I have ip of system 3.156.168.*** and i want to ping some port that is on this IP which command i can do this?

Do you want to check if a process is listening on the port from outside the system?

If that is the case, you can do this:

telnet IPaddress port_no
If you get "could not open connection to ..." sort of message, then no process is listening on the port.
