Cool grep command

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to forward the results from a grep command into a new file.

If anyone knows how to do that please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

In both cases, if the file does not already exist, it will be created.

cat file | grep "pattern" > my_new_file
ls -a | grep "pattern" >> my_new_file
grep "pattern" file > my_new_file
