XP will overwrite the boot sector of your hard disk so you'll need a unix boot floppy or CD if you do it that way.

Quick note: This is purely an educated guess as to why you barely hear of unix viruses:

1. Desire to corrupt the oragnisation behind *nix is far less.
2. Beacuse it's Open Source there are developer's all over the world constantly improving it.
3. THIS IS THE BIG ONE. Security. You can't do much damage to unix unless you have super user rights to the system (unlike windows).

Like I say, that's only my opinions however.

On the virus question... UNIces have a much better architecture than Winblows systems... they are naturally more secure and the fact that most viruses are aimed visual applications like VB and outlook and outlook express and such. Unices in general are text based which also makes it harder to attack with viruses... of a general nature.

Unices are just less likely to be hit, mainly b/c Unix SAs know wth they are doing!!! haha!!!

Are you perhaps referring to SCO Open Server 5.0? Isn't this a commercial product? Shouldn't you obtain this from SCO?
