Unix OS

I was thinking of installing unix on my computer but want to keep windows xp running aswell, Is there any Unix OS that I could install as a partition or a Unix OS that will boot straight from CD so that I can go back to windows xp when I dont want to use Unix.
I already know that you can get linux on a bootable CD.
Thanks

The short answer is about any variety of Linux should let you do that. I know you can set up Solaris x86 with Windows as a dual-boot too.

Search on this site for more details. This exact issue has been discussed many times. Or the variety you choose to install should have instructions specific to their distribution on their website - they know Windows has huge market share so they need to help people use both on the same machine.

Good luck.

if this is a live system i would suggest testing all this on a test system as not to bring down a live system if it fails!

Unis OS

Yea I will try it on one of my other older computers, then if anything goes wrong it wont matter as much, but if it works I will install it on my main computer.
Thanks for the advice
