Question How to create directories

Hi...

Can any1 help me by telling me the way to create multiple directories using single command....

to create 1 directory.. mkdir is used....
but how to create multiple direcs. like 4 direc.

i tried ....

$ mkdir a; mkdir b; mkdir c; mkdir d
But its 4 commands in a single line....so i m not statisfied with this ans...
So please suggest me another better & correct way for the above mentioned prob...(not using script..)

PS: This ques was asked by the external examiner during my Unix viva & i wasn't able to ans ..

i m not sure in which section to put this ques.. so i choose Dummies section...
