hi all,
am considering buying the book 'Oracle 8i for Linux Starter Kit' by Steve Bobrowski ... two questions ... 1) are there any major differences between the Linux version of Oracle and versions for other platforms? 2) this book is $US35 on Amazon, but I thought this was supposed to be a majorly expensive app so what are the limitations/conditions on this version and the use of it? thanks in advance gan |

Oracle is free for personal use. For lots of software and an enormous amount of documentation (although a little hairy to navigate), sign up for an account at otn.oracle.com.
I would definitely recommend a book for that, so the $35 doesn't seem like too much at all. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...23/silkroadcom |
