Cannot log on to FreeBSD LiveCD
Hi, I just download FreeBSD LiveCD and burn it to the CDROM (Because I want to learn UNIX). But when I boot the computer from the CDROM, it display the username and password. I type "root" and the password blank. But it does not allow me to login. I try many user name and password that I guest but it could not allow me to login. Could any one give me any suggestion to solve the problem? Does any one know the correct user name and password to log on FreeBSD LiveCD??? Please let me know.

I download FreeBSD LiveCD from http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=55042 and I found the document of the project said that
Firts Boot. If you did not customize user/group and passwords, the default root account is passwordles. Enjoy ;-) But when I boot it from the CDROM then I type "root" as the username, for the password, I leave it blank (don't type anything) then press enter key to logon, they it display a message that Incorrect logon. I do it as the documentation said but it is not working. Do you have any idea about that???

Try maybe mount that cdrom with freebsd livecd and locate /etc/master.password file, and see if root has passwd set. But since i think that project uses compressed fs it wount be so easy. I like another freebsd 5.x livecd project called frenzy. ftp://ftp.opennet.ru/pub/mini-cd/Frenzy-BSD/ I used it and liked it, and recommend it :-) only thing is lack of documentation in english. |
