Help with FreeBSD and startx.
Hello everyone.
I just installed FreeBSD recently and when I type the command startx, I get the following errors: (EE) failed to load module "fbdev" (EE) <default pointer> cannot find which device to use (EE) xf860Open erial: No evice specified (EE) <default pointer> cannot open input device (EE) PreInitFailed for input device "<default pointer>" Now, I use a USB Mouse and when I ran xorgconfig I didn't see the option to use one. Any help is appreciated. |

This is what I use in xorg.conf on Slackware for my USB mouse.
Code:
# Core Pointer's InputDevice section
# **********************************************************************
Section "InputDevice"
# Identifier and driver
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
# Option "Device" "/dev/usb"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Resolution" "300"

Since I dont run X on FreeBSD, I just use it as a server, and with Slackware being similar to FreeBSD, I mistakenly figured it would work.
Doing a quick google on 'IMPS/2' and 'FreeBSD' gave me these results. Which is for FreeBSD 5.3 http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/FreeBSD53.html "The syntax of xorgconfig (or xf86config) is a bit different than Linux. With an MS optical Intellimouse, using a PS/2 connection, in Linux one chooses IMPS/2 protocol and /dev/psaux. In FreeBSD choose the Auto protocol and use /dev/psm0." |
