.profile
Once I logged into the Unix Box the .profile does not work I need to enter .profile after I get the prompt to make it work.
Could anyone give me an idea why it is happening like this. All your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Which OS and which shell are you using ??
They don't all use .profile on start up.... |

Sun Solaris and k Shell. When I try to login from Exceed it does not the .Profile File I need to say .profile in order to start up.. My other colleagues over here when they log in the .profile starts up immd..
All your help in this regards is greatly appreciated... Thanks -VenkyA
