Hi Guru's
Im a complete newbie to unix/linux and have been given a project on setting up a mail server for little over 80 users by my client.

I would like your assistance on how i could go about this project.

-What Other programs/Packages should i install that will bring the mail server up (Sendmail, exim etc)

What more info would i need. Please add me into your messangers if possible so that you could assist me

I've been using the following guides to help me build an OpenBSD mail server:

This one describes an OpenBSD Postfix gateway using a variety of anto-spam and anti-virus tools: http://www.flakshack.com/anti-spam/

These guides are how to setup an IMAP mail server OpenBSD with QMail and Courier-IMAP:
Part 1 - http://www.sancho2k.net/filemgmt_data/files/qmail.html
Part 2 - http://dantams.sdf-eu.org/guides/obsd_courier_imap.html

---

There are lots of Linux-related anti-spam and anti-security links here : http://www.linux-sec.net/Mail/AntiSpam/

---

There are also some links at postfix.org for how to build a complete mail server solution: http://www.postfix.org/docs.html

Hello!

I would go for postfix as the smtp server (www.postfix.org) and courier as the pop3/imap server (www.inter7.com)

If you are a newbe to mailsytems dont go with sendmail its not that user friendly use postfix..

I would also recommend spamassassin and some kind of antivirus program with procmail or something like that.

i would install it on a redhat server.

Just my preferences when it comes to setting up mailsystems

Good Luck

/Peter
