play cd? how? - UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

hi all,
How do I set up my cdrom to play some regular audio cd (not cd-r or cd-rw). I know that my cdrom has been mounted as it does pop up the file manager if I put in, e.g., the office52 cd.

You need CD player software. What version of Unix are you using?

Thank you for the reply. I am running Solaris8. I did try to run an audio player under the application manager | Desktop control but it does not play it as I expect.

Try using <A HREF="http://www.alladmin.com/software/xmcd.htm">XMCD</A>. The web page says it is for Solaris 2.X & 7, but it should run on 8 also.
