Problem with IRIX

I have a SGI sys with Irix running on it.
Actually i cant see the console login .
It just shows a blank blue screen . I can use the mouse though.
Also i can remote login into the m/c
I am new to SGI . Can anybody help

Please check to see if you can work from the console without an X (graphical) interface. If you can, then check your video card and X server configuration. If this is OK, then you need to contact SGI about getting X running.

Uhm.. I'm not sure if this is true for IRIX,
but with the SUNs and HPs.. when this happens, this usually means that the X-display process is either hung or missing. If that is the case, then you have to login as root and restart the x-display deamon.
Hope that helps, I'm sorry if that's useless info.
