If I recall correctly, kppp has an option to disable existing DNS information while it's running. In that case, it uses the values you plugged in when you set up the connection. When setting up or editing an account, click the "DNS" tab. Make sure you have correct information in the fields. Also, you will notice towards the bottom, there is a checkbox allowing you to turn the disabling of your current DNS on or off.
