Just a basic question, is the script always redirecting y to the same location / filesystem? You've proably done this already but maybe check the permissions of the target dir(s) and whether any are symbolic links pointing to different filesystems.
I've had problems with scripts doing things with large files following a mv to dirs on a different filesystem. I wonder if this is why your man there suggested a sleep??? |
