Dual Boot a good idea?

I was just wondering if it would be alright to dual boot a machine with both UNIX using XTERM for the interface and windows 98 or if people consider this a bad idea? if you consider it bad do tell me some possible alternatives..also would it be better to get linux over pure unix? I'd like a visual interface however the XTerm interface my co-worker uses in a sun UNIX box looks fine.

Re: Dual Boot a good idea?

Many people run dual boot systems. This is certainly true in a lab, learning or test environment. Normally, when I do this, I place each OS on a complete different hard drive. That way if you want to move it to standalone, it is really easy to do.

Linux is as much UNIX as any UNIX. UNIX is an architectural philosophy, not a product.

Better yet, it should be included in one of the disks with RH7.1. I know it's in 7.0. Be sure to browse throught the /mnt/cdrom/Redhat/RPMS/* directories on all of your disks, after you install. I find new stuff all the time that I have wanted to install, but not download due to my slow modem, and I've had it all along!

Good ol' RedHat...
