how to tell if process is hanging

On Solaris 8..

PHP Code:
28166 user   3693M 2736M sleep    5    0   0:05.38 0.0PROCESS/
How can I tell if this process is doing anything or just hanging?

Use with caution..., but you can use truss to attach to a running process. See the man page for truss, but it is:

truss -p pid

<control-c> will break you out of the trace.

Cheers,
