wmosley2, many of your questions tend to be pretty vague, but i think this one takes the cake! imo it doesn't seem like any answer is going to be a useful contribution to the site...
is there any topic you'd like to know how to do in the most efficient manner? |

Given the vagueness of the question, I'd have to say 'man'....

Second, in my opinion is vi but that is only an opinion, but without vi , I would be lost on UNIX Neo |

I agree. I love vi. Regardless of what UNIX flavor may have my attention any given day, vi can always be found.
One feature of man that can be very useful, especially to the aspiring admin, would be -k (keyword search). from man man (on Solaris): -k keyword ... Prints out one-line summaries from the windex database (table of contents) that contain any of the given key- words. The windex database is created using catman(1M). Cheers, Keith |

wmosley2,
Please read the FAQ at the top of the newbies forum. (3) Refrain from idle chatter that does not contribute to the knowledge base. This doesnt qualify as a "contributing to the knowledge base". UNLESS you provide reasons why a particular utility is great. Similar to the posts which ask "what OS is best"? those are only valid questions if, as Neo has put it, "you offer reasons why a certain OS is great, ie portability, ease of use, compatiblity with 3rd party software, etc..." Please continue to post here, but make your questions more topic specific. I am closing this thread, but dont take that as a slap in the face. I am merely enforcing the Site rules
