Cron Tabs

I am on AIX 5.1
If I have a crontab that looks like this
01 1 * * 6

What does the 6 mean ? if the * means that everyday it should run then why would the 6th day be signified ? Shouldn't it be a * also?
Thanks

Field 3 is the day of the month (1 - 31)
Field 5 is the day of the week (0 - 6 and 6 = Saturday)

They way these two fields are treated is confusing. If one is an asterisk and the other is not an asterisk, the field with the asterisk is ignored. To run on every day, both fields must be an asterisk.

And if both fields are a not asterisk, the add together to form a list.
01 1 1 * 6

would run on the first of the month and on every Saturday. You might expect it to run only if the first was a saturday, but that is not the case.
