Exclamation is this a common problem in X?

does X apps some times go blank and you need to kill the app i find that to be very annoying becuse i do that a lot is there a fix for this here is my top - 15:22:46 up 2:25, 3 users, load average: 0.12, 0.09, 0.20

what do i need runing in the back round i run a x86 p3-866

no its not common. what apps are you running that crash like that? it could be a few things, a mis configured system, poorley written software... etc etc.

many apps like gaim and knoqueror
gnome 2.2 and kde 3.1 and all so my k3b crom app sayes there is not any cdro driver and looked for it and it is there i use suse 9.0

check your log files, /var/log/messages ,
/var/log/localmessages. also log files of the programs that are crashing. run a program that crashes from an xterm, and print here any message displayed in the xterm window.
