bash preferred or ksh with bash features

I'm a user on a fairly locked down sys V server. By default, I have ksh set as my default shell. I added to my .profile:

Code:
bash -o vi

so when I login, it goes into bash so I can take advantage of tab completion and use the up key to bring up previous commands. However, whenever I want to exit, I have to exit twice because the first exit leaves bash back to ksh, then the second exit puts an end to my ssh session.

What I'd like to be able to do is either:
a) use bash, but only have to exit once.
or
b) use ksh with tab completion and using the up key to bring up previous commands.

I know ksh has the ESC-\ completion, but it simply isn't my preference.
I also know about using "set -o vi-tabcomplete", but we don't have vi-tabcomplete as an option. Any ideas?
