Question Graphical Interface

While trying to install mandrake I click graphical install and the screen turns black ... why is it doing this?

Here is what is going on ...

I downloaded caldera, but i didn't know how to install it so I borrowed mandrake disks from a friend. I installed mandrake but in the middle there was an error ...

All that I want to do is find a linux and replace that messed up linux ... can anyone please help?

What kind of graphics card do you have in the computer? What kind of monitor? Maybe mandrake doesn't support something you have...

I have NVIDIA GeFORCE TI 4600 with an NEC monitor, 1024 x 768. It also turned black when I tired installing redhat.

Pulling at strings here, but from what I've been reading, quite a few people have had trouble with both those O.S.'s when used in conjunction with an nvidia videocard...

Maybe you can find something useful here:

Sorry, I'm not sure what the solution is though...
