Question installing unix on pc next to WinXP

Hello,

It can be that i overlooked some questions and that
somebody else already asked this question.

The fact is that i want to install Freebsd
(i saw that this was one of the best options on pc)
on my homecomputer,
but without removing everything i have on winXP.

So my question is :
Can i install unix next to WinXP ? (i think yes)
Do i use partitionmagic to partition my HD into two parts ?
How can i get the choice at startup in MS-dos
which OS i have to use ?
(ex : 1 for WinXP, 2 for unix)

The reason why,
is because the costumers of my job are using
unix servers platforms and i have to test and install software.
I won't to learn more, than just follow instructions
and doing small commands.

thanks

You should first check out the FAQ list at freebsd.org.
See the installation FAQ -
Can Windows 95/98 co-exist with FreeBSD?

Install Windows 95/98 first, after that FreeBSD. FreeBSD's boot manager will then manage to boot Win95/98 and FreeBSD. If you install Windows 95/98 second, it will boorishly overwrite your boot manager without even asking. If that happens, see the next section.
