Question Does the FreeBSD 6.3 stable support Sun Fire X4140???

Dear all,

I am a newbie learning Unix and doing some experiments. I have searched the FreeBSD world that some guy has reported that FreeBSD 6.x version definitely support Sun Fire X4100 & X4200 M2 or early types.

When I am wondering to buy a Sun Fire X4140 which released last year and still remains hot face, I am not sure if it is compatible with FreeBSD 6.3 stable. Does any one has such experience or could give a clue that FreeBSD can be run on this machine?

Thanks.

I am sure Sun would not want to surrender FreeBSD compatibility, but you can always check the Hardware Notes that come out with every version of FreeBSD or ask with the mailing list: freebsd-sun4v-subscribe@FreeBSD.org

Thanks figaro. I have borrowed one Sun X4240 for trial. It looks only the nVidia Ethernet adapter is not supported. But I have found the nfe for FreeBSD 6.x, so it looks work. Of course, not so perfect as FreeBSD 7 appears on it.
