Hey,

I tried the which comand doesnt work all the time. For example..I have the zip utility residing in some other directory so when I did which zip it said no zip in ....list of directories(mentioned in the path).

Is there anyway of finding out if there is a particular utility on the UNIX server and how do I find it ?

Thanks !

which command will not display command location that is not in the path.
To see your path use $PATH
To find where is your zip command installed use :
# locate zip

Which shell are you using? I have a bash shell, it looks like it comes with a zip program.
So I guess you also get nothing when you type
man zip

Is that right?

If you guys are using it as you say- how is it being used? What is the calling path to it?
