Have you tried the GNU Krell Monitor? (Gkrellm)

Homepage: www.gkrellm.net
RPMs:
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...-fr1a.i386.rpm
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...-fr1a.i386.rpm
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...7-fr1.i386.rpm
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...7-fr1.i386.rpm
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...7-fr1.i386.rpm
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp...fr1.noarch.rpm

Only the first RPM is nessesary, there is also a server RPM to allow you to monitor you system remotely.

Not entirely sure this is what you are seeking but have a look.
