New Rule on Subject Text (Description)
Effective January 1, 2009 our moderators will begin to enforce a new rule. The new rule is:
(11) Post questions with descriptive subjects. For example, do not post questions with subjects like "Help Me!", "Urgent!!" or "Doubt". Post subjects like "Execution Problems with Cron" or "Help with Backup Shell Script". FYI, all the rules can be found here: http://www.unix.com/misc.php?do=cfrules There are a couple of reasons for this new rule. First of all, we have a lot of experts here and they tend not to view threads with subjects like "Please Help Me!" or "Doubt" or "Urgent Plz Help!!!!". Second, if someone is not interested in the subject, it is a waste of their valuable time to have to open the thread to see what it is all about. Third, around 95 percent of folks who visit this site are referred from their search query. They are looking for answers to their questions and problems. Using subjects like "Help Me!" do not add any value to the knowledge base or search tags. It makes search more difficult. If you want do discuss this new rule, please discuss here: http://www.unix.com/members-only/919...criptions.html |
