Unhappy How to create users on HP UX????

I new to unix and I'm using a HP UX and I'm logging in as user: root. I wish to create new users by using the 'useradd' command.

When I keyed in' useradd -u 101 -g group john', the reply was 'Group group specified with -g does not exist'.

I've read the man page on useradd and I still don't understand.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

after the parameter -g, the groupname must exist,you can look the file /etc/group.you can create a newly group or add user to a existed group.

Try this

Code:
Add user john to the system with all of the default attributes.

           $ useradd john

      Add the user john to the system with a UID of 222 and a primary group
      of staff.

           $ useradd -u 222 -g staff john
Also i think you need to specify whther the group group of yours exists or not.

Thanks for the reply!

I've check that the Groupname 'group' exist in the etc/group but how do I check the users in that particular Group?

How do I change to login as the new user if I succeed in creating the new user?
(as I'm new to unix)

The easiest way to add users in HP-UX is to use Sam.
As root, simply type "sam"... easy, huh?
If you're in text-mode, you'll get a curses-based window, and if you're in CDE / VUE, you will get a new window on your workspace... Simply navigate your way through - you can do a lot of your administration via sam.
