move from an HP box to Sun Box

I could write a long spec here, however.....we are looking at investing in one of thise shiny blue Sun V440's. Rediculousely expensive, however possibly more cost effective over time...too much time listening to salesmen. To the point has anyone actually performed a comparison for Oracle running on HP rp4440 and a SUN v440 ?

benchmarks.

I dont much about specs on db performance, but you could upgrade that rp to an RX, more cost effective and would smoke that sun box..

You should use the SUN Opteron v40z server. Good, cheap and fast.

Do some research - and watch that you don't start a war which is against the rules.

See TOP 500 - look at # 7 in the list - this was one of the fastest/cheapest supercomputer's ever. I've never owned/seen/SA'd one of them but it sounds great.

Opinion - never believe the sales rep.
