Hi,
ok, all users are locally. So you don't need the virtual if you use the hostname as email domain.
Should the users only communicate on your server or also on the university.

OK,
than you must publish the ip of your mailserver into the DNS.
Ask your networkadministrator to add the ip and FQDN to the DNS.
And the university mailserver must allow relaying from your ip.

Now

create all users locally.
you can use the postfix configuration above without masqerade_domains!.

Then you can send mails to the users.

adduser user1

....

mail -s "test" user1

should work.
