samba daemon
RedHat 7.1
Problem: can't start the smbd daemon Procedure: #/etc/rc.d/init.d/samba start ps -e ;displays the nmbd daemon running but not smbd #/etc/rc.d/init.d/samba restart ;same thing. nmbd is running but not smbd there is no firewall installed (at least that is what I told RedHat during installation). Any kinds of suggestion is greatly appreciated |

Can you run it manually?
On one of my systems it's in /usr/sbin, so I can start it by typing : /usr/sbin/smbd -D If that doesn't work, try turning on debugging: /usr/sbin/smbd -D -d 1 -l /tmp/smbd_log |
