Thumbs up Using CD drive remotely !

hi,
could anyone tell me that how can i use a remote CD drive for installing solaris , cause my local Drive has peroblem.
tell me the steps one by one.

Well, I can't tell you step by step what exactly to do, but the documentation for Solaris states that you can simply mount the CD of another system, then share it out via NFS. You can install over NFS.

Hopefully, somone here can add some more insight!

As you recommend i should share CD Rom via dfstab file besides doing some essnital tskas for sharing, but i want to use CD in PROM mode remotely and with boot net it goes to remote machnie & start installation from remote CD.

If the other system is also Solaris you could set it up as a jumpstart server to jump the new system. Check out docs.sun.com and search for jumpstart.

i want to install solaris on this machine as a standalone machine ,but my problem is that my own machine CD drive has problem & i want to use my neighbor machine drive remotely for installing solaris.
