TAR version help!!!

Guys,

I really need to know what version of tar i am using in our HP B.11.11 box machine (model = 9000/800/rp8420 ). Do you know how? (tar -version won't work since it's an hp box)

hp tar

aint used hp unix in like 2 years...try this.

what /usr/bin/tar

or

what /sbin/tar

depending on your location of tar.

I am not sure if you can get the version of the HPUX default shipped tar version but if you happen to have the gnu tar on your system ("gtar"), then you can get the version by:
gtar --version
