Kill Processes Running On a Particular Port

Hi,

OS: Solaris9, SPARC, NetraT4

How to:
  1. Find out the state of a particualr port?
  2. Find out the process using that port?
  3. Once found, is it generally OK to kill that process with kill -9 pid to free that port?
