Angry sendmail problem

Hi,

I have some problem with sendmail daemon.

Earlier it was working fine as I used to get alert mail through crontab jobs.

Two days back it stopped sending alert messages.

When I executed mail command from shell prompt, I could read all the pending messages, generated through crontab scripts.
Looks like the mail is not getting dispatched.

I tried to restart the sendmail daemon with :

/etc/init.d/sendmail stop
/etc/init.d/sendmail start

it didn't work.

Any ideas, what could be going wrong..

For your information :-

uname -a on the machine gives :-
SunOS pine 5.8 Generic_108528-19 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4

Thanks in advance
Amit

You are not giving enough information. You state it was working and then it stopped sending messages, yet you could read all the message via the mail command.

So, I must assume you were forwarding X account's email to your email on another server. If so, then check /etc/mail/aliases - see if that file has changed in the last two days. You hopefully have a backup of it to check against. Or, you may have had a .forward file being used to allow you to get the email on another server. That should be in the X account's home directory.

Either way, mail does seem to be working, just not going where it use to (now being delivered locally).
