Question Formatting hard drive from Unix to Windows

Can a hard drive be formatted from unix server to windows 2000 professional?

Let me get that straight, you are currently running a Unix server, but now you want to install Windows 2000 on that server?
Well, the Win2k installation will probably ask you for partitioning anyway.

Try a tool like partition magic instead of waiting for Windows to prompt you. The Windows format utility (in my experience) is not that great.

I agree with google - use Partition Magic for this. Windows format is *very* inflexible to put it politely.

If you do not have Partition Magic, and have some experience using GNU/Linux or UNIX, then you could try using QtParted, it's a Partition Magic clone, and under the GPL.

You can use the SysRes-CD, which is a Live GNU/Linux CD, which can be used for editing partitions and formatting them.
