Not able to access wi-fi from ubuntu 9.04 -AMD 64-bit.

Hi,
I am not able to access wi-fi network from my laptop HP-DV6-1111au. Please suggest how can i load a driver for the device and set the network right!!

google ndiswrapper

find out what kind of adapter you have and read the docs.

Needed to change the kernel version

My machine needed atheros 9k device driver my 9.04 was running on 2.6.26 kernel. that doesnt support this version. I tried updating only the driver but couldnt do it. I had to change the kernel to 2.6.30 now its working fine...

For Jaunty, running this would likely also fix the wireless issue

Code:
 sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-jaunty
