Help with locating a file (to download)
debian_base_system.tar.bz2 is what I am looking for.
Hello All; I am trying to learn Linux and have done some work, now I am installing Xen virtual machine But I need a .tar.bz2 file which is the base Operating System (for Ubuntu or Debian)* but I do not know where to download it from, the ones I found via google were the installation files in form of ISO or CD and of course I do not want to install them cuz I already have the latest version of Ubuntu 9.04, ( just need the zipped |OS so I can unzip it once I have setup this empty virtual drive so basically I want my VM to have some sort of OS on it so it can be booted and used)_ So any help will be appreciated. * I am not really sure what the difference is between Debian and Ubuntu Linux? I see our servers running Ubuntu but use the debian files for xen? (The debian base system file on our server is way too old and the guy who set it all up is gone...)!? Regards; |

if you try to install XEN, why don't you use the ubuntu software repository? or directly from the xen source (Welcome to xen.org, home of the Xen hypervisor, the powerful open source industry standard for virtualization.) if you'll need xen 3.4 (ubuntu repository has 3.3). also a nice wiki with install instructions can be found there!

Yes I just installed xen-tools3.3 on my machine. I have been very busy trying to get all my web sites and bookmarks etc, (username passwd ) etc, etc, back in order, I lost all my data when I installed the new Ubuntu the other day (my own fault) so I appreciate your help in providing these helpful information. (1st URL), looks like a familiar site I am glad you sent the link. Thanks a lot! Med |
