Welcome to Tips and Tutorials

Tips and Tutorials was created partially as an overflow from our Answers to Frequently Asked Questions. We noticed that some of the info in that forum did not really answer a question that is frequently asked. We want to keep the FAQ forum small so that it is easily browsed. Also, a few users had expressed an interest in a forum like this.

You may post submissions in the Tips and Tutorials Submission Queue. These will be reviewed. To be accepted, the technical accuracy must be very high. Remember that we have a set of rules. We sometimes give a little slack in our other forums. The rules will be more strickly enforced here. This includes: "(9) Edit your posts if you see spelling or grammar errors (don't write in cyberchat or cyberpunk style). English only." Also, the level of the subject matter will be considered. We don't want anything like "Use the pwd command to see your current directory". We would rather have a few gems than a large number of poorer posts. We don't want those gems to get "lost".

Along these lines, there is no posting allowed directly in the Tips and Tutorials forum. Q and A about a tip or a tutorial can take place in one of our Q and A forums. But this is a work in progress. We may consider a Discussions of Tips and Tutorials forum if the demand is there.
