skip upgrading rpm

hi

the step 'upgrading the rpm' is taking a long tme. and since I am not interested in uninstallation, is there a way to skip this step?

I don't know what you are doing to get an 'upgrading the rpm' but if you are using a redhat based system like Fedora or Cent OS you can always use `yum update` or `yum -y update` or even `yum -y install "pkge"` to install or update packages. But this will require a network connection.

hi

When we install a rpm package, the installation ends with a message: "Upgrading the rpm database"

i want to skip this step...

You probably do NOT want to skip upgrading the RPM database.

It keeps track of everything that's installed on your system, including dependencies. When you install anything, your installation tool will either automatically install dependencies or tell you to. It would be bad news if the database doesn't know what's installed.

BTW, which distro are you running? Fedora, Mandriva, CentOS, Suse, Scientific?
