cant excute /etc/init/rc*

hi Guys, i'm new to linux

i have some problem after reboot it showing like this error ..

end -request: i/o error / dev hdb, sector 2566830
cant excute : /etc/init.d/rc
No more process /etc in this run level

any one know .. plz reply soon ... coz i 'm working as data center

Possible disk errors

Might be disk errors.does not look like superblock corrupt. Try fsck repair. Is this system part of a cluster config setup? What is your current run level? Pls provide output off run level and O//s version?

That should be your reason right there. You have a disk error on read. Time to get the backup tapes out and a new hard drive.
