Regarding heartbeat communication between two linux servers

Hello,

We have configured heartbeat in two linux servers and in both the servers heartbeat service is running properly.

Now we want to check the heartbeat's packet information when the heartbeat communication takes place between these two servers. In this we want to know about exact information, which the heartbeat's packets (messages) are containing during transfer of packets, So that we can know the exact sequence how the heartbeat is knowing itself status of both the servers (means when the servers are up or down).

-> Actually we want to know exact information of data content inside the heartbeat's udp packets.

-> Also we want to know that exactly which type of messages are transfering to take place heartbeat communication properly.

Please reply. I will be highly thankful to you........

Thanks & Regards,

Heartbeat is Open Source. You can take a look at it and see exactly what's being transfered and what it means. Or start tcpdump/wireshark on one of the machines.

Regarding heartbeat communication between two linux servers

Dear Sir,

Can u please give some more details like information of data content inside the heartbeat's udp packets, so that we can know the exact sequence how the heartbeat is knowing itself status of both the servers (means when the servers are up or down).

Also tell that exactly which type of messages are transfering to take place heartbeat communication properly.

Thanks & Regards,

No, I can't give you any more details, since I never needed that knowledge, I'm contend as long as it does what I say. Get the source from linux-ha.org and read it, or read the page on Basic Architecture.

Or, as I said before, just trace any communication between the nodes with tcpdump/wireshark.
