Application Manager Problems

I am running Solaris 10 on a v440 server

The user rebooted the computer and now when they open the application manager everything is missing.
Desktop_Tools Desktop_Controls ectra...

I checked the symbolic links and everything appears to be there. i even tried to cp -r /usr/dt/appconfig/appmanager/C/Desktop_Tools to //var/dt/appconfig/appmanager/login-hostname-display

nothing works, I do not want to delete and recreate the user account I would like to find out why this happened. Any ideas on how I can re-link those items back into application maanger?

I even deleted that user name in the /var directory and rebooted and logged back in and it does not recreate it. Did the environment variable get messed up
