Question New to solaris (novice)

Heya all Im just reading up on the solaris o/s and have a few questions regarding it:

1) is the solaris of free to use/download? if yes where?

2) Can the solaris o/s be loaded from CD without affectin windows o/s just like linux can?

3) what are the hardware requirements for using solaris as I have 3.05 GHz and 124 mb of RAM?

4) Can solaris be used as a dual boot with windows?

Yes, you can download OpenSolaris here:

Home at OpenSolaris.org

You can find more info here:

Learn More About OpenSolaris

Yes, you can configure Solaris for multi-boot environments.

You will fine with 3.05 GHz and 124 mb of RAM if you are only doing basic testing, but RAM is cheap and most of us use at least 2 gigs these days. It has been a long time since folks used platforms with only 124 MBs of RAM.
