List Installed Patches by Live Update?

Hi,

Is there any ways to list patches installed by Live update on Solaris 10 (Solaris 10 11/06 s10x_u3wos_10 X86)? A friend of mine did Live Update for his Solaris and after rebooting the system, it does not boot up. Apparently, he can get to the fail-safe mode but it automatically reboots during boot-up process if he chooses to boot up normally.

I think backing out some kernel related patches might resolve his problem, but he doesn't know what patches have been applied to his system and there is nothing under the /var/adm/patch/ directory.

So... I'm in need of your help to find out where (and if) Solaris keeps a historical log of installed patches (possibly with timestamp) somewhere (else).

Thank you in advance for your help,
gibb

probably there's a /var/sad/patch/log dir where you can find the logs which are created automatically during the patching. Did he do the patching using the backout "-B" option?

Another way you can try is to use ls -ltr under the /var/sadm/patch dir. You can find the timestamp of the patches which were installed.

hi incredible,

Thank you for your posts.
there was a typo in my post and i meant for /var/sadm/patch/ (my apologies...). My friend took a look at that directory and he said there was nothing there.

Do you know if live update stores installed patch information somewhere else?

thank you for your help,
gibb

Live upgrade creates log files, from memory I think they go in /var/sadm/system/logs the same as installation logs.
