Solaris box shows blank screen after power up

Hi All,

I have a solaris machine that powers up and displays a blank screen?

All the keyboard, monitor and mouse are plugged in. It was booting fine before and when it was disconnected and re-connected (mouse/keyboard/monitor) it just powered on and came up with a blank screen.

Please help.

Thanks

Hi

Can u drop to the console while the server is booting?
You could run hardware diagnostics and other testst from there and see
what is wrong.

One possibilty is your VGA card is faulty. If not, do this:
-use your notebook to serial in
-you should be able to see something
-dro system to OK prompt
-check the input / output device is pointiing to screen and keyboard.

try booting the system again. you will notice that your notebook gets no respond(meaning that your monitor and keyboard has got the signal).
Check again and see.

Is a Sun Microsystem Sunblade 2000 machine.

Cannot drop to the console since the monitor does not have any display

VGA card is not faulty as it booted up before.

I understand i can probe the system by connecting up the serial line to it and running the output to hyper terminal.

Iam trying to figure out another way, for example, is there a keyboard function i can activate the sceen to appear?

You can drop to console using serial. From your noteboot, issue a ctrl-break sequence.
