Solaris installation

I have downloaded Solaris. But I can't install it on my 64 bit PC.
It is fraught with installation problems. I gave it up.
I know it will work on SUN Sparc computer. However, it is beyond my budget.

Did you install it successfully on an ordinary PC?

Yes, I did install it on a 64 bit PC. Perhaps did you gave-up too early.

Why don't you describe what problems did you encounter? aMaybe someone will point you in the right direction.

Yes, I have done several hundred installations of various 32 and 64 bit machines. I have one running beside me right now, and everything works on it and it installed without any issues.

In order for anyone to be able to help you you need to give your hardware specs and the errors/problems you encountered.

Thanks everybody for the replies.
What is the version number of Solaris you manage to install?

I failed with the following program:

sol_10_606_x86

I have the above on a DVD. It is a bootable DVD.

I downloaded, compressed and concatenated as suggested by the Sun's website.

It boots fine. However, in the process of installation I had severe problems and forced to give it up.

I would like to know whether you managed to install the above version or some other old version.

I downloaded it October 2006. I tried to install it several times and gave up.
I would like to hear from you all again.

This is where you should provide more information.
How did it failed ?
On what hardware did you try to install ?
Did you check if it is supported before using the SDD tool ?

Thanks Jlliagre for taking time to reply me.
Today I downloaded the latest version.
I still didn't find time to decompress/concatenate.
I will do it soon.

I am glad you are all behind me for the installation.
I will make another attempt as you will help me.
Please do keep a good watch on this thread. I am very busy with so many other things at the moment of writing. I will try to install within next 48 hours.

Do you want me to try with the latest version?
I will accept your suggestion.

By the way, what is the SDD tool?
