Unhappy Nagios NRPE plugin won't install

Hi have a Solaris 9 box and I'm trying to install Nagios on it.

I've installed the GCC compiler as well as OpenSSL and OpenSSH.

When I run the # ./configure for the nrpe plugin it executes without any obvious errors. However, when I run the # make install afterwards if fails with the error messages below:

ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to nrpe
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `nrpe'
Current working directory /export/home/nagiosinstall/nrpe-2.10/src
*** Error code 1

Does anyone know why this is happening?
