Solaris 8/x86: issues with video card on IBM ThinkPad A20p

hi there,
i'm quite new to solaris and recently i've bought a ibm thinkpad...
now i intend to install a dual-boot system. in fact i've got it managed to install the end-user system
with dual-boot working. apart from following issue other devices got recognized...

this is what i've found out until now:
  • my "new" notebook has a built-in ATI Mobility 128 AGP video card
  • regarding to suns HCL this card is not supported
do i have to give up or is there a chance to get x window system display some colors (instead of black/white)
and use a better screen resolution than 800x600 (svga)
the video card with 15 inch display would support resolutions up to 1400x1050 (sxga+)

of course i've tried to use "similar" ati drivers during setup (not all ati drivers, but at least 3 different),
but it won't work. when i use them i get error messages similar to "mach64 kernel not found".

kind regards,
pc

i don't know, imho it's a very good approach, but i'm extremely interested in getting the "8" working properly incl. x window system.
