solaris 5.8 hang on boot
I have an ultra 10 system, and am trying to install and verify a previously cloned hard drive, to make sure it works, that it really is a duplicate of the hard drive currently on an other server, etc.
I plugged in this cloned hard drive as master, only drive in the system. No network LAN connections attached. The system hostname is CBX-svr The hard drive is seen on power-up, and boots up partially and the system hangs at this message: Cbx-svr sendmail [220]: unable to qualify my own domain name (cbx-svr) -- using short name At this point the system hangs. Suggestions, tips ? System is solaris 5.8 I am able to boot to single user mode,....but am unsure what to do next after I am there, to fix the normal boot-up problem ..... but I'm just trying to learn Solaris Sysadmin stuff, so any tips, guidance and helps for this novice will be gratefully accepted ! |

here is what I see - it matches the vfstab file in the "original" hard drive, and also to a 2nd cloned drive that is in another ultra 10 ( wiil boot up when not connected to network) located next to this one that won't boot:
$ cat /etc/vfstab #device device mount FS fsck mount mount #to mount to fsck point type pass at boot options # #/dev/dsk/c1d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c1d0s2 /usr ufs 1 yes - fd - /dev/fd fd - no - /proc - /proc proc - no - /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1 - - swap - no - /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 / ufs 1 no - /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s5 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s5 /usr ufs 1 no - /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s6 /opt ufs 2 yes - swap - /tmp tmpfs - yes - #backup-svr:/export/home - /net/backup-svr/export/home nfs - yes bg,hard,intr Last edited by HikerLT; 03-09-2007 at 03:24 PM.. |
