Background:
DEDS is used to exchange files between Our Client and outside world. It is running on Sun v480 server OS 5.8. The files can come into or go out from various directories configured for various interfaces and come from both Our Client side as well as outside world. Requirement: We need to maintain a log of all the files that come into DEDS (i.e. are created on DEDS) and files going out (i.e. files that are deleted). Problem: Due to the high exchange rate of files on DEDS, we cannot use the directory polling mechanism. Hence we are looking out for some hooks to the Solaris file system at the OS level which will generate a notification to our program whenever a file is created or deleted. The notification needs to contain the filename, filepath and the type of filechange (i.e. Creation/deletion) Kindly note the OS is Sun Solaris 5.8 You early response will be highly appreciated. |
